An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:24 scale, that is in one of the largest scales in which aircraft models are produced in series. The maker is the Chinese firm Trumpeter, which in this line has worked out the whole family of Ju 87 versions - from the early A through the B and R to the late D and G. This item represents the B-2 version with the U4 supplement. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Ju 87 was a single-engine two-seat dive bomber with fixed, spatted landing gear and a characteristic inverted gull wing. A liquid-cooled Junkers Jumo vee engine powered it, placed in the narrow nose ahead of the glazed cockpit for the pilot and the rear gunner. The B-2 version was the variant of the original B with a more powerful engine. The abbreviation U4 in the designation refers to a factory conversion set - on the Ju 87 B-2 this designation is generally given for ski landing gear for operation from unpaved snow-covered surfaces. Whether and to what extent the skis are part of this package is stated in the enclosed instructions.
The 1:24 scale changes the rules of the game. The areas are large, so they reveal every imperfection of the surface - a primer is practically compulsory here and sanding the filled seams deserves more time than on a small model. The interior, on the other hand, is finally worth detailed work: the seats, the instrument panel and the frames are large enough for belts, a wash and drybrushing to pay off. The glazing is extensive and broken up; mask it pane by pane with tape or with ready-made masks and glue it exclusively with canopy glue, which does not fog the plastic. Leave the fixed landing gear with its wheel spats until the end because of handling, and count on the finished model being heavy - check the strength of the joints of the landing gear, so that it does not splay out under its own weight. The propeller, the exhausts and the leading edges will take a cautious patina; the large areas of the wings will benefit from a light shading of the panels, or they look flat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
