A kit of injection-molded plastic in 1:24 scale from the Japanese maker Aoshima. The subject is the third generation Mazda RX-7 with the type designation FD3S in a police standard with a radar, of the kind that serves in Japan for the supervision of speed on expressways. Aoshima has the police versions of Japanese vehicles worked up as a group of their own and adds characteristic fittings to the base body for them. The Mazda RX-7 of the FD3S generation was produced from the beginning of the 1990s and belongs among the best known Japanese sports coupes. It was powered by a twin-rotor turbocharged Wankel engine arranged in a sequential turbocharger system, and the vehicle became famous for its low weight and balanced chassis. It is precisely the combination of high speed and an inconspicuous civilian body that led to similar vehicles appearing in Japan in the service of the traffic police as well, where they were used for the supervision of speed.
The body of the RX-7 is formed by long rounded surfaces on which every unevenness shows, so spend time sanding the mold parting lines and preparing for the paint. Apply the paint in thin coats over a primer; with the white and black police scheme it is advisable to lay down the light shade first and mask the dark parts in afterwards. Lay down a gloss clear coat before the decals and clear coat again once they have dried. Glue the glazing with glue for clear parts. Paint the beacons and the transparent covers with clear paints from the inside; you will get a deeper color without losing the gloss. Complete the interior by telling the upholstery and the instrument panel apart.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
