An injection-molded plastic kit from the Japanese manufacturer Aoshima in 1:24 scale. The real subject is the Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R with the factory code PGC10 in its racing form for the JAF Grand Prix in 1970. Aoshima devotes itself to Japanese classics consistently and the models of the Skyline family are among its strongest series.
The Skyline of the C10 generation, known among fans as the Hakosuka (literally the boxy Skyline), came at the close of the 1960s and in 1969 it received the first version designated GT-R. The code PGC10 belongs to the four-door sedan variant of the GT-R. Under the hood worked the two-liter inline six-cylinder S20 with DOHC valvetrain and four valves per cylinder, that is, an engine derived from the technology used in the Nissan R380 circuit prototype. It was an exceptionally advanced unit that made the Skyline GT-R practically unbeatable on Japanese circuits for many years. The racing form differs from the production one above all in widened fenders, lightened equipment and starting numbers.
A racing version will take a more pronounced approach to weathering than a collector's car from a display case - fine marks on the fenders and a more matte surface look convincing. Even so, first sand the body over properly and spray a primer so that the sharp edges of the angular shape stand out. Apply the starting numbers and the sponsor decals onto a gloss base and then unify them with a varnish of the matching sheen. Build and paint the interior of a racing car with its roll cage and sports seats before closing the body. Leave the wheels and tires until the close.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
