Plastic crates, Bierkisten and Boxen, in 1:24 scale from the manufacturer MAiM make up a set of four pieces. It is a diorama accessory for a garage, a yard or a street scene, not a vehicle kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set holds four plastic crates, that is, boxes of the beer crate type, of the kind used for bottles, for tools and for small materials. It is not a kit of a vehicle or of a building: it is a separate diorama accessory which is added to a finished scene and gives it scale and action. In 1:24 the crates come in useful with models of cars, vans and garage scenes, where it is precisely that kind of small clutter that gives a scene its credibility.
The crates can be stacked on one another, leaned against a wall, scattered around a yard or loaded onto a truck bed. Because they are ordinary packaging material with no tie to a particular period or country, they suit civilian scenes from the postwar years up to the present day. They combine well with pallets, drums and boxes from the same range, so a corner can be filled in step by step and with no making of your own.
First clean the parts up carefully and degrease them, so that the paint holds. A thin coat of base from an airbrush or a spray can works well, then a rich shade and finally picking out the edges with a dry brush. The crates gain their character mainly from a dark wash, which runs between the compartments and into the ribbing; suggest the wear with a lighter shade on the edges and a fine dust pigment at the bottom. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts; on fine castings super glue, that is, cyanoacrylate, holds best.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
