This kit from the Japanese manufacturer Aoshima captures the sister sedans Toyota Chaser and Cresta of the JZX90 generation of 1993. According to the instructions, both the Avante Super Lucent trim and the more sporting Tourer can be built. In the package are injection-molded plastic parts, clear glazing, rubber tires and a sheet of decals.
The Chaser and the Cresta belonged, together with the Mark II, to one family of Japanese upper-mid-size sedans on the X90 platform of 1992. They shared their mechanicals and chassis and differed mainly in the shape of the grille, the lights and the rear. Alongside the quiet versions for everyday use there was a variant with a turbocharged inline six, thanks to which these cars became a legend of the Japanese tuning and drift scene.
It is the body that will take the most work. Remove the mold seams, wash the part and apply a filler primer, which will show up small defects. Spray the color in thin layers, let it harden and close it with a glossy clear coat. Apply the decals to a glossy base and fix them with varnish. Pick the interior out with a dark wash so that the details of the dashboard and the seats stand out. Fit the chrome parts and the glazing right at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
