Decals for naval infantry vehicles in 1:35 scale from Star Decals, the fourth part of the range. According to the name it covers the Soviet and Russian PT-76 and also the BMP-1 and BTR-80 of the Ukrainian naval infantry.
Responsibility details are not available.
The fourth part of the Star Decals range devoted to naval infantry brings, in 1:35 scale, markings for the PT-76 amphibious light tank in Soviet and Russian service and also for the BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicle and the BTR-80 armored personnel carrier with the Ukrainian naval infantry. In one package the set thus joins the vehicles of two states that started from the same basis of equipment.
Naval infantry needs vehicles that can get from a ship to the shore, and amphibious vehicles have therefore always dominated its units. The PT-76 was a light swimming tank with a large buoyant hull and water jets, the BTR-80 an eight-wheeled amphibious carrier and the BMP-1 a tracked infantry fighting vehicle with a low silhouette. After 1991 the same types appeared with the successor states, so in one scale a comparative pair of machines of identical design with different markings can be built. It is exactly on that that the subject of this set is built.
Amphibious vehicles have large smooth sides on which markings stand out, but which at the same time give away every flaw in the paint. Level the surface, therefore, and coat it with a gloss varnish; once dry, even the surface out with a matte varnish. Finish the waterline and the lower part of the hull at the end with mud and water marks. Look for the details of application on the box of the set.
The set holds decals, not a kit. Paints and varnishes are not included in the package.
