A plaque 40 mm in diameter devoted to the Waffen-SS mountain unit with the designation Karstjäger. An accessory for marking a base, a diorama or a display case.
Responsibility details are not available.
The designation Karstjäger was borne by a Waffen-SS mountain unit raised in 1944 out of an earlier unit intended for fighting in the karst country on the borders of northern Italy, Slovenia and Croatia. Its name comes from there as well: karst is limestone terrain full of sinkholes, caves and rock steps, where advancing and supplying are both harder. The unit was committed mainly in rear-area and anti-partisan operations and in numbers it never reached the strength that the corresponding divisional designation would imply.
It is a round plaque 40 mm in diameter from a range of accessories for dioramas. It is used for marking a base, a base plate or a display case with a scene on a matching theme. The finish, the material and the recommended method of fixing are given in the manufacturer's instructions, so look into them before gluing.
The front edge of a base or a free corner of the base plate proves itself. Try the position dry, rid the ground of dust and grease and only then settle the plaque. With a circle it pays off to line it up against the edge of the board, because even a slight rotation is visible. If the scene is broken up, leave a free area around the plaque so that it stays legible.
It suits a modeler who is working up a mountain or Balkan scene from the Second World War and wants to provide finished work with a neat description. A diameter of 40 mm counts on a smaller base rather than a large one. The model itself, a base, figures, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
