The set holds two figures of wild boars, a male and a female. It is not a kit of equipment, but a figural accessory for dioramas and vignettes in 1:24 scale. Animals are underrated in modeling, and yet it is precisely they that can give a scene unexpected action: a boar coming out of the undergrowth beside a parked vehicle turns an ordinary composition into a moment.
In forest and field scenes, at the edge of a clearing, by a stream, on the verge of a field track or in an overgrown corner by a building. A pair of a male and a female makes it possible to create a relationship between the figures rather than just standing two animals side by side: one can be turned toward the viewer, the other absorbed in rooting in the ground. They combine well with vegetation, trees and the other animal figures in the same scale.
The fur of a wild boar is coarse and uneven, which is an advantage when painting. Start from a dark brown-gray base, then apply a thinned wash in the recesses and draw lighter hairs out with a dry brush along the direction of the fur, mainly on the back and the shoulders. Keep the snout and the hooves darker and slightly glossy, and give the tusks a bone shade rather than white. Realism is helped by dried mud on the legs and the flanks, which can be suggested with pigment or a texture paste. Clean the figures up and wash them before painting; on fine castings super glue holds best.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
