Reskit 1:32 set of resin wheels Type 2 for the Hughes AH-64A Apache attack helicopter replaces the plastic wheels with more detailed castings. It is an accessory for a kit, not a model of the helicopter in its own right.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin replacement set of wheels for a kit of the Hughes AH-64A Apache attack helicopter in a large scale, in the form designated Type 2. It is not a model of the helicopter but a detail accessory: the resin castings render the tread pattern, the shape of the hubs and the details of the axles more sharply than injection-molded plastic can, and they have no parting line that would have to be sanded away. The manufacturer offers Apache wheels in two forms — Type 1 and Type 2 — as two separate items.
The AH-64 Apache is a two-seat attack helicopter with seats arranged in tandem, two turboshaft engines and a four-blade main rotor. The AH-64A is the original production version, from which the later upgrades were derived. The landing gear is fixed and non-retractable, with two main wheels and a smaller wheel at the tail. Because it is permanently visible, its execution plays a considerable part on a finished model. On real machines several types of wheels occur according to the production batch and the tires used — that is why two different sets exist, and it is worth checking against photographs which form matches the machine you are building.
Wash the castings first in lukewarm water with detergent so that the mold release agent comes off them — without that neither paint nor primer will hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a fine knife; do not break them off. Level the cuts with fine abrasive paper, best of all wet and with respiratory protection. They are glued with cyanoacrylate super glue; cement for plastic will not join resin. Apply a primer before painting. Do not spray the tires pure black but dark gray with a hint of brown; set the hubs apart and even the whole out at the end with a fine dust shade or pigment — fixed landing gear gets noticeably dirtier in service than retractable gear.
This is an accessory set, not a model of the helicopter. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
