Responsibility details are not available.
Two to four shelter halves buttoned together gave the men a night's rest anywhere two branches and a piece of level ground could be found. That is exactly why a bivouac at the edge of a wood is one of the most rewarding subjects: it needs no building, it needs no hardware and yet it can tell of exhaustion, rain and waiting for orders. This sheet makes such a scene possible, because a camouflaged sheet in paper is pliable exactly as much as you need.
The material, according to the manufacturer, is fine paper with color printing in a 19 x 11 centimeter format. Fine paper is the ideal material for a shelter half. It soaks up diluted glue, holds its shape once dry and deep folds can be pressed into it that will never come out as light on a cast part. The printing carries the camouflage pattern on both sides, so it works even where the reverse shows.
An assembled shelter gains weight when something is set underneath it: an infantry pack put down, a helmet on a peg, a mess tin by a fireplace. A paper shelter half can also be glazed and dusted with pigment once dry, which brings it into the same world as the terrain around and stops it working as an alien inserted element.
