This set from the aircraft aftermarket maker Aires/Quickboost is a resin replacement for the landing gear doors and covers of a model of the F-101A/C Voodoo fighter in 1:48 scale. It is not an airplane kit but a detail accessory that replaces the plastic parts from the base kit with more finely cast resin doors. The cast parts capture the wall thickness and the inner structure that injection-molded plastic usually simplifies.
The McDonnell F-101 Voodoo was an American twin-engine supersonic aircraft of the Cold War, used in the fighter and the reconnaissance roles. The A and C versions were among the strike variants. On a model, open wheel bays with accurate doors are among the clearly visible details of the underside.
First wash the resin parts to remove mold release residue, cut off the casting blocks carefully and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). We recommend painting and weathering the doors separately; the inner surfaces come out once the edges are brought out and a little grime is added.
This is an accessory, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
