An injection-molded plastic kit of the British cruiser tank Cruiser Tank Mk.VIII A27M Cromwell Mk.VI in 1:35 scale from Airfix. It is a recently designed tooling; in the box you will find plastic sprues, a photo-etched brass fret and a choice of one-piece or link-and-length tracks. On many of the parts the hatches and vents can be built open or closed.
The Cromwell Mk.VI was the version specialized for direct fire support of the infantry. Instead of an anti-tank gun it carried a 95 mm howitzer with a considerably shorter barrel and a large counterweight on the weapon; it served to destroy fortified positions, bunkers and machine gun nests and could also lay a smoke screen. It is precisely the short barrel with its counterweight that is the most conspicuous difference from the gun-armed Mk.IV. Around a few hundred of these specialized tanks were built.
First finish the running gear and the lower hull, then close the hull. With link-and-length tracks, work patiently link by link around the rollers — the result looks more realistic than a one-piece track. Glue the plastic with liquid cement and the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate. Use a primer and an airbrush; build up the British olive in layers. Complete the weathering with a wash in the recesses, drybrushing of the edges and dust pigments on the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
