Responsibility details are not available.
This is a turned metal barrel in 1:35 scale from the Polish manufacturer Aber, intended for models of the German medium tank Pz.Kpfw. III in the Ausf. J, L and M versions. It replaces the plastic barrel of the 50 mm KwK 39 gun with a barrel length of 60 calibers. It is not a model of a tank but a detail accessory for raising the fidelity of a build.
Rearming the Pz.Kpfw. III with the long 50 mm KwK 39 L/60 gun was a response to the strengthening armor of the enemy's tanks. The longer barrel gave the shell a higher muzzle velocity and extended the effective range, but at the same time it shifted the center of gravity of the turret and changed the overall silhouette of the vehicle. The Ausf. J, L and M versions with this gun made up the main strength of the German tank units in 1942 and 1943.
Cut off the plastic part at the point where it seats, level the opening with a drill or a knife and fit the metal barrel dry first. Once the axis is checked, glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) on a degreased surface. Go over the metal with a base coat meant for metals, or the paint on the barrel will rub off during handling. Leave the muzzle clean and pick it out only with a gentle darkening.
This is a detail accessory, not a complete model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
