This is a card model of the Czechoslovak light fortification model 36, in the type B configuration, in 1:35 scale. The model is built from preprinted card sheets, which are cut out, folded and glued. It is neither a plastic kit nor a finished object but a classic Czech cut-out paper model for patient handwork.
The light fortification model 36 belonged to the first generation of Czechoslovak border pillboxes built from 1936. These were smaller reinforced concrete works for machine gun defense that formed continuous defensive lines along the threatened borders. The type variants differed in shape, in the orientation of the embrasures and in the way fire was directed. The model is a rewarding subject for lovers of the history of Czechoslovak fortifications and for dioramas of the late 1930s.
Have a sharp modeling knife, a cutting mat, a ruler and good paper glue ready. It is a good idea to burnish the edges of the parts before gluing and to blacken them with a matching color so that a white cut does not show. The concrete surfaces can be fine-tuned with dry pastels and pigments for a convincing touch of age. We would suggest building calmly and in small sections.
The model is supplied unassembled as a set of card sheets. Glue, tools and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
