Fortifications are among the kindest subjects in card modelling: flat faces, right angles and a print that settles the question of concrete texture for you. The range here takes in light Czechoslovak pre-war fortification objects in 1:35 together with larger complexes rendered in smaller scales, such as a submarine pen. A structure like that is worth building as the foundation of a scene — it looks right on its own, and with terrain and figures around it becomes a setting.
Back the walls with heavier card so the structure cannot work in changing humidity, and run a thin wash of concrete-toned paint along the joined edges once assembled — the seam disappears. For the ground, greenery and small props around the object, see diorama buildings and accessories. Fortification subjects in other materials and formats are gathered in the fortification models club section, and the remaining printed sheets and editions are in card model kits.
