This is a basic photo-etched detail set from Tetra Model Works, not a model of the missile system. The set in thin brass sheet sharpens up a plastic kit of the American MIM-104 Patriot air defense system in 1:35 scale: usually the platforms, the grilles, the covers, the grab handles and other fine elements of the launching station and the accompanying parts. The target kit is Trumpeter.
The MIM-104 Patriot is an American mobile air defense missile system meant to destroy aircraft, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles. The system consists of the launching station, the radar and the control station. It has been in service since the 1980s and a number of armies around the world operate it.
The photo-etched parts in thin brass sheet are separated with a sharp knife on a hard surface, bent over an edge or in a bending tool and bonded best with super glue (cyanoacrylate). It is a good idea to degrease both the photo-etch and the plastic before gluing. This is a basic set that covers the most visible surfaces; the photo-etched platforms and grilles come into their own once painted and weathered. The finished surface is treated with a primer and sprayed with an airbrush, and the weathering is built up with washes and pigments.
This is an accessory, not a standalone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
