This injection-molded plastic kit represents the enclosed MK.38 gun mount with a pair of dual-purpose guns of 5-inch/38 caliber (127 mm), in the unusually large scale of 1:35 from Takom. The model is conceived as a standalone build with a richly detailed mount surface and it usually comes with metal gun barrels.
The 5-inch/38 caliber gun was a dual-purpose American naval gun, used against ships and aircraft alike, and it ranks among the most successful weapons of its kind from the Second World War. In the twin MK.38 mount it appeared on destroyers, cruisers and battleships, and it stayed in service well into the postwar era.
Glue the plastic parts with thin cement for plastic, clean up the seams and prime the surface before painting. The large scale invites careful weathering with a wash and a dry brush, which will bring out the riveting and the structure of the mount. We recommend degreasing the metal barrels before painting.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
