This is a set of metal track links for the British rhomboid tanks Mark IV, Mark V and Mark IX, including the version with the lengthened rear end known as the Tadpole Tail. It is not a model but a detail accessory for the model of the British tanks Mark IV, Mark V and Mark IX in 1:35 scale from the manufacturer Friulmodel (Hungary).
The set brings individual metal track links in white metal, which are laid out and joined with wire pins, so that the track stays workable once assembled. Thanks to the weight of the metal the track settles naturally and sags between the road wheels, which looks more faithful than the vinyl tracks of the base kit. The links have a crisp casting and finer worked-out detail.
The Mark IV, Mark V and Mark IX were British heavy tanks of the First World War with their characteristic rhomboid hull shape, on which the tracks ran around the whole outline of the vehicle. The Tadpole Tail modification lengthened the rear end for better trench crossing.
Clean the flash and the casting gate remains carefully off the links, so that they fit together smoothly. It is practical to paint the assembled track separately from the model: lay on a primer suited to metal, a dark metallic base shade and then weathering with washes and pigments, which stand out on the running gear. As the track runs around the whole hull, pay attention to the way it is led all around. A sag on the upper run gives the model a realistic look.
This is an accessory, not a model in its own right. The vehicle itself, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
