A brass photo-etched set from Voyager Model in 1:35 scale. It is not a model of the tank but a pack of thin brass parts with which you replace the coarser plastic items and refine the detail of a model of the modern T-80BVD main battle tank. According to the name, the set also holds smoke dischargers (the system for laying a smoke screen). The set is intended for the Trumpeter 05581 kit.
The T-80BVD belongs to the T-80 series of tanks, whose basis came about back in the Cold War period. The T-80 series made its name by using a gas turbine as its main propulsion. The T-80BVD variant is an upgraded form with explosive reactive armor and a modified powerplant. It is a tracked vehicle with the crew in the hull and the turret.
Separate the brass parts with a sharp knife on a hard mat and bend them in a photo-etch bender or along a ruler. Bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate); for easier shaping the brass can be lightly annealed over a flame. Apply a base coat (a primer) suitable for metal before painting.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
