E.T. Model 1:35 Modern US ARMY M1A1 MBT TUSK I is a photo-etched detail set for the plastic kit of the American M1A1 main battle tank with the TUSK I package. It is a metal accessory for the build, not a model of the tank.

A set of photo-etched parts in 1:35 scale for refining the plastic kit of the American M1A1 main battle tank in the TUSK I configuration. The metal parts replace the grilles, the thin protective plates, the brackets, the clamps and the loops for securing equipment. It is exactly these small items that make the biggest difference on modern tanks between a model straight from the box and a contest build. The set is not a kit and the base model is not included in the package.
The M1A1 is the version of the Abrams with a 120 mm smoothbore gun and a gas turbine. The TUSK package, that is the kit for surviving urban combat, came out of experience from Iraq, where tanks operated in narrow streets and were threatened by fire from immediate range. The TUSK I configuration brings above all slat armor at the rear against shaped-charge rounds, a shield for the loader at the machine gun and a telephone at the rear for contact with the infantry. Vehicles in this configuration usually wear a desert scheme and a generous amount of personal crew equipment hung around the hull and the turret.
The slat armor is the most conspicuous part of the build, so take care over straight folds and over getting the frames to sit parallel with the hull. Separate the parts with photo-etch scissors and sand the tags down. They are glued with cyanoacrylate applied on the tip of a piece of wire. Degrease the metal and spray it with a primer. After the base color, add a wash in the recesses and dust pigment on the underside of the hull and on the running gear.
The package holds photo-etched parts, not a kit of the tank. The base model, glue and paints are not part of the delivery.
