Trumpeter 1:350 Russian Destroyer Taszkient 1942 is a plastic kit of the Soviet destroyer in 1:350 scale, in the form matching the year 1942.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an unassembled plastic ship kit in 1:350 scale, a very rewarding scale for destroyers: the model comes out large enough for fine details to be used on it, and yet it still fits into an ordinary display case. The year in the name denotes the period appearance of the vessel, that is the particular state of its fittings and armament in that year. The number of parts, the presence of photo-etch and the extent of the decal sheet are stated on the packaging of the kit.
Tashkent was a large destroyer of the Soviet Navy from the end of the 1930s, classed among the so-called destroyer flotilla leaders. It was a fast vessel with a slender hull, gun armament in turrets and torpedo tubes on the main deck.
Glue the hull and let it cure thoroughly before you start fitting the superstructures: the seam along the keel is the first thing that shows on a finished ship model, and it is easiest to deal with while the model is still open. Paint the deck and the hull separately and mask the joints, or the shades will contaminate each other. Glue the fine parts, such as the masts, the davits and the boats, only after the base coat. Antennas and rigging are best done in this scale from stretched sprue or fine fishing line, pulled taut and fixed with a drop of super glue. Mix the gray shades on the lighter side, as they will darken under a matte varnish. A stand or a base comes in handy at the end, as the model is long and awkward to handle in the hand.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
