A set of turned metal barrels for the British quick-firing gun known as the 12-pounder, of 76 mm caliber, in the Mk.I version. The scale is 1:350 and according to the name the package holds ten pieces. It is not a ship model or part of one but a replacement part with which the small plastic barrels of the secondary and anti-torpedo-boat armament are swapped out on a built model. The manufacturer is the Flyhawk brand, a specialist in accessories for small-scale ship modeling.
The British 12-pounder quick-firing gun of 76 millimeters was typical light armament of warships in the era of the First World War. It served above all to defend against torpedo boats and smaller craft, and later it also appeared in mountings for firing at air targets. Given its small caliber it is represented on models in 1:350 by a large number of pieces distributed over the superstructures and decks, which is exactly why the sets come with ten barrels.
Small barrels call for calm and tweezers with fine jaws. Cut the plastic part off and carefully drill the hole in the mounting or shield with a micro drill. Glue the metal barrels in with cyanoacrylate glue, ideally applied with a pin in a minimal amount, so that any excess does not spread over the deck. Degrease the metal before painting and use a primer, otherwise the shade rubs off during handling. It is advisable to fit the barrels only after the main coat and the weathering are finished, so that they are not bent while you work.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
