An injection-molded plastic kit of the destroyer Yukikaze in 1:350 scale from the Japanese maker Tamiya. The model can be built with a full hull or in the waterline version (the above-water part only) for setting into the sea surface. The package contains finely worked decks and superstructures, a stand with a nameplate, metal propeller shafts and photo-etched parts for fine elements such as the ladders, the shields of the antiaircraft weapons and the antennas.
The Yukikaze was a destroyer of the Imperial Japanese Navy of the Kagero class, brought into service at the turn of the 1930s and 1940s. Ships of this class were fast and well armed with torpedoes and gun armament and were deployed in many operations of the war in the Pacific. The Yukikaze became renowned for coming through the war with a minimum of damage.
Before building, consider whether you want the model as a full hull on a stand or as a waterline version for a diorama with a water surface. Glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. An airbrush proves itself for even layers, with a final emphasis of the details by washes and a dry brush on the edges of the superstructures. Fit the fine antennas and railings only at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
