This is a finished collector's model in 1:43 scale from the Czech manufacturer Abrex, which has long devoted itself to miniatures of Skoda cars. The model arrives assembled and painted in the shade Sahara Sand and is intended for display, not for building. On the line of Skoda 1203 miniatures it is the finish and the configuration that are the main distinguishing mark — besides civilian colors, versions in service liveries come out too, so a whole collection of one body in many forms can be put together.
The Skoda 1203 was a Czechoslovak light utility vehicle, which went into production in the late 1960s and stayed in production for an exceptionally long time. The body with a flat front and the engine mounted at the front arose in many variants — from a box van through a minibus and a flatbed to ambulance and other service configurations. The vehicle became an ordinary part of the streets and of company fleets, and today it is among the types that hold a strong place with collectors precisely because of their everyday, nostalgically familiar look.
A model in 1:43 scale takes up only a little room in a cabinet and keeps comparable proportions in a row with other cars of the same scale. Collector's models of this class have glazing, printed detail of the lights and badges and a painted body, so treat them as a cabinet piece. Wipe dust off with a soft brush, not with a dry cloth, which easily scratches both the finish and the printing. Display out of direct sunlight will extend the life of the colors and the plastic parts. The model is sensitive to being dropped, so bear that in mind while handling it.
