Eduard 1:48 AGM-142 Popeye 1 is a resin set of external stores depicting an air-to-ground guided missile. An accessory for a combat aircraft kit, not a model of an aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin accessory in 1:48 scale depicting the AGM-142 Popeye air-to-ground guided missile. It is neither a model of an aircraft nor a kit, but external stores for a combat aircraft model under construction. The casting replaces a coarsely made plastic weapon from the box with a part with markedly finer surface detail, or adds armament that a kit does not hold at all. The set belongs to the Brassin resin range of the Czech brand Eduard from Obrnice near Most.
The AGM-142 Popeye is an Israeli-developed long-range air-to-ground guided missile for attacks beyond the reach of point air defenses. The missile has its own rocket motor and a guidance head; the operator in the weapon systems cockpit watches the picture from the head and corrects the flight path by means of a datalink pod carried on the aircraft. The weapon was adapted to be carried by tactical as well as heavy combat aircraft of several countries and exists in several versions differing in size, weight and the type of guidance head.
First wash the parts in warm water with a drop of detergent: on unwashed resin neither glue nor paint holds. Cut the casting block off with a saw or a cutting disc, level the surface wet with sandpaper and protect your airways. It is glued exclusively with cyanoacrylate. The missile is more comfortable to paint before it is hung under the model. Before mounting it, check whether your model has a matching pylon and whether the particular machine actually carried this weapon: with missiles of this kind the armament tends to be tied to particular users and periods.
This is an accessory for a kit, not a model in its own right. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
