A modeling paint from the Orange Line range by Hataka, carried under the name Sand Brown and under the code RAL 8031 F9. The name of the shade points to a sandy brown tone, that is, to an earthy color somewhere between ocher and brown. On a model such a tone comes into its own in the dry and desert camouflage of vehicles, on the dusty surfaces of running gear and on the ground of dioramas. It also serves as a base from which further earthy shades are built up with dust and a wash.
RAL is the German standard of shades, in which every tone has a four-digit number. The opening digit places the shade in a color group and an eight belongs to the browns; the rest of the number defines the particular tone. The entry is unambiguous, so by it you can compare the shade with the paints of other ranges even when it bears a different name in them.
Shake the bottle well before work, the pigment settles at the bottom while standing. The thinner intended for this range and the thinning ratio are stated by the manufacturer on the packaging; use the same thinner for cleaning your tools too. Apply in thin coats and let them flash off between passes, because a single heavy coat floods the fine surface detail. Wash and degrease the surfaces of the parts beforehand and give them a primer that evens out the differences between materials.
Thinner, brushes and airbrushes are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
