1:48 AGM-142 Popeye Have Nap is a resin set of an air-to-ground guided missile from the Czech maker Eduard. It is an accessory to a plastic aircraft kit in 1:48 scale, not a standalone model.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory set of underwing armament in cast resin. It replaces the simplified plastic parts that tend to be part of the sprues in kits: the casting has sharp leading edges on the fins, a cleanly cast warhead and a surface without a parting line along the whole length of the body. The Have Nap designation in the name specifies which version of the missile this is — other forms are sold under similar names, so go by the whole name when choosing.
The AGM-142 is a longer-range air-to-ground guided missile developed in Israel under the name Popeye. The US Air Force brought it into service under the program designation Have Nap. The missile has propulsion of its own and a guidance head at the front, and it passes an image to the operator over a data link, so its path is corrected in the final phase of flight. It was carried by large and by tactical machines fitted with the appropriate data link pod.
Wash the castings in warm water with detergent so that no mold release agent is left on them. Cut the casting block off with a saw, level the surface with a file and sand wet with respiratory protection. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue; solvent cement for plastic will not join resin. Apply a primer before painting. A long slender body is held well in a clip or on a stick — on slender missiles every fingerprint shows after painting.
This is an accessory set, not a model of an aircraft. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
