A resin set from the Ukrainian manufacturer Reskit replaces the landing gear wheels on a model of the B-66 Destroyer in 1:48 scale. It is an aftermarket accessory, that is parts that are fitted in place of the parts supplied in the kit; the model of the aircraft itself is not included in the package. On a large machine the wheels are sturdy and plainly visible on a finished model, so a finer casting with a sharper tread pattern and a cleanly worked hub shows in the result straight away.
The Douglas B-66 Destroyer is an American twin-engined jet tactical bomber, which came about by reworking a carrier bomber for the needs of the US Air Force. It entered service in the middle of the 1950s. Besides the bomber form, versions intended for photographic and electronic reconnaissance were also built, as were machines adapted for electronic warfare, which carried jamming equipment and served to escort strike formations. It was precisely these specialized versions that stayed in service the longest, whereas the original bombing role gave way fairly early.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent to remove the remains of the mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the seating surface; protect your airways while sanding. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, that is super glue. The disc and the tire have a different shade, so paint them separately or help yourself out with masking at the boundary. Fit the wheels right at the very end, once the covering coat has dried, so that they are not damaged while the large fuselage is handled.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted and is an accessory, not a complete model. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
