Precisely shaped self-adhesive masks from the Czech maker Eduard, intended to cover the glazing and other areas of a model of the British Harrier GR.1/3 in 1:48 scale. The TFace description marks out the version that includes masks not only for the outer face of the cockpit but for its inner face as well, so that the frames look right when seen from inside too. The set on its own is not a model of the aircraft or a kit; it is an accessory used when painting an already built model.
The BAe Harrier was the first series-built combat aircraft with the ability to take off vertically or from a short run. The powerplant is a Rolls-Royce Pegasus jet engine with vectored thrust, whose exhaust nozzles swivel and let the aircraft hover on the spot. The GR.1 version was the first combat form for the Royal Air Force, while the GR.3 was a modernization with improved equipment for reconnaissance and radar warning. Characteristic features of the type are the high-set swept wing, the tandem undercarriage and the outrigger wheels at the wingtips.
Apply the masks only onto a cleaned, degreased surface of a finished part, ideally before spraying the base color. Press the edges down carefully with a toothpick or the blunt tip of tweezers, so that paint cannot get underneath. Apply the paint in thin layers; a heavy layer likes to peel away beyond the mask when it is lifted. Take the mask off while the finish is only just touch-dry, at a sharp angle and slowly. With the TFace version, stick the inner masks on first and only then close the cockpit up and mask it from the outside.
This is an accessory for a model, not a model of an aircraft. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package. We recommend checking the match with your own particular kit beforehand.
