A resin detail set from the Czech manufacturer CMK, from the range of quick accessories. It is not an aircraft kit but a set of castings that replace the simplified exhausts from the plastic kit. The shaped hedgehog-type flame dampers have thin edges and open outlets, which injection-molded plastic cannot manage. The set is prepared so that it can be used quickly: cut off, clean up, glue on and paint.
Exhausts are among the most conspicuous elements of engine nacelles and at the same time among the places where plastic parts look bulky and have blind outlets. A resin replacement shows at first glance, and on a twin-engine aircraft it shows twice over. On top of that it is a clear recognition feature of the Australian version, so the set also sharpens the identification of the variant itself.
The Bristol Beaufighter was a British twin-engine heavy fighter and attack aircraft, valued for its ruggedness and heavy armament. The Mk.21 version was an Australian adaptation built for the needs of the Pacific theater, with changes to the engines, the armament and the equipment. Flame dampers on the exhausts suppressed the flash of light and were used on machines flying in darkness and at dusk.
First wash the mold release agent off the castings in lukewarm soapy water. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw; do not snap them. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, and sanding should be done wet and with your airways protected. Painting: a base of dark metal, then layers of rust and burnt shades, and finally a light dusting of dark pigment around the outlets.
The set is an accessory; the aircraft model itself is not included in the package. The parts are supplied unpainted, and glue and paints are not enclosed.
