Pre-cut masks in kabuki paper for a model of the CH-47A transport helicopter in 1:48 scale at the entry-level BASIC. It is neither a kit nor a replacement part, but an aid for painting. The manufacturer also makes the ADVANCED and EXPERT levels for the same helicopter and scale, so you can choose the extent according to how thoroughly you want to work the model. The CH-47 is a tandem helicopter with a long fuselage, which besides the glazed pilot's cabin has a row of round windows on both sides and glazing under the pilots' feet. It is therefore not one large area but many small separate shapes spread along the whole length of the model. Cutting a circle a few millimeters across out of tape by hand is tedious and the result tends to be uneven — this is exactly where a pre-cut set pays off most.
It is usually simplest to fit the windows in the sides of the fuselage after the airframe has been sprayed, not before; if the kit has them fitted from inside, however, put the masks on before joining the fuselage halves. Seat the round shapes with the tip of the tweezers in the center of the window and only then press them down around the edge. Glue clear parts with a glue for clear plastic, not with cyanoacrylate — its fumes fog the surface permanently. Before spraying, check whether any of the small masks has come loose while the model was handled.
