Decals for the B-17E Birmingham Blitzkrieg 1:48 from HAD models. A sheet with the markings of one particular Boeing B-17E Flying Fortress bomber in period American markings.
Responsibility details are not available.
A decal sheet from the Hungarian manufacturer HAD models in 1:48 scale for a model of the four-engine Boeing B-17E Flying Fortress bomber. The sheet is devoted to one particular machine nicknamed Birmingham Blitzkrieg in period American wartime markings. It is neither a kit nor a finished model: it is an accessory in its own right with which you mark a model built from a separately sold set.
The B-17E was the first version of the Flying Fortress with a markedly reworked tail: it received a large fin with a dorsal fillet and a defensive gun position in the tail, which fundamentally changed the outline of the aircraft against the earlier variants. It is precisely by the tall fin that the version is recognized at a glance. Machines of this version served as daylight bombers, and their individual nose art is among the most frequently modeled subjects.
Apply them only onto a smooth gloss surface, as on matte paint silvery microbubbles form under the film. Cut the design out as close to the printing as possible, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it rest on the paper backing until the film moves freely. A decal softener helps it settle, as it draws the film onto the engraved lines and the riveting; press the water out from under large designs with a soft cloth from the center toward the edges. Finally seal everything with a matte or semi-gloss varnish.
The package holds the decal sheet only. The model, paints, glue and varnishes are not included.
