A themed sheet from the Hungarian maker SBS Model for 1:48 scale, devoted to the machines of Ilmari Juutilainen - the most successful Finnish fighter pilot in history. The larger scale lets the personal emblems and victory marks come properly into their own.
Over the Winter War and the Continuation War, Eino Ilmari Juutilainen recorded 94 confirmed kills, making him the most successful fighter ace outside the Luftwaffe. He flew in turn the Fokker D.XXI, the Brewster model 239 and the Messerschmitt Bf 109 G, and he was one of the few to receive the Mannerheim Cross twice. Models of his machines are among the pillars of any collection devoted to the Finnish Air Force.
In 1:48 scale it pays to work motif by motif: seat the personal markings and victory symbols according to the side views in the instructions, and move small pieces with the tip of a damp brush. A gloss surface and a softener will ensure a perfect fit, and a final satin or matte coat matches the period look of Finnish machines.
