Painting masks for the Me 163 B in 1:48 scale from GasPatch Models on a special paper carrier — a sharp cut and easy positioning.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of masking stencils for a Me 163 B model in 1:48 scale, not an aircraft model. According to the name the carrier is a special paper material — stiffer than a flexible film, with a sharply cut edge that sits well on flat and slightly curved areas and is easy to position. What the set covers is stated on the packaging. Before buying, check that the masks match the kit you are building.
The Me 163 B was a rocket-powered interceptor with a tailless wing layout. It was powered by a rocket engine running on liquid propellants and the time under power was very short; once the fuel was used up the machine carried on as a glider. It took off from a jettisonable wheeled dolly and landed on a retractable skid under the fuselage. Its small dimensions and rounded fuselage make the aircraft a rewarding model, but a demanding one to mask.
The base must be clean, degreased and perfectly dry, otherwise the mask will not settle. Transfer the mask with tweezers and press the edges down with a toothpick or a blunt tool. Apply the paint in thin coats at right angles to the surface; you can choose the color of the base for the first coat, so that any seepage under the edge is not visible. Take the mask off shortly after the paint has set, pulling it at a sharp angle. A paper carrier adapts less well to strongly curved areas, so it is a good idea to help it with a cut in the edge.
The set is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
