A masking set from the SX-Art brand for painting a model of the MV-22 Osprey tiltrotor in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit and not a part of a model, but an aid for painting: the parts are stuck onto the glazing and other areas, sprayed over and lifted off once the paint has dried.
The MV-22 Osprey is a tiltrotor, that is, a machine with tilting engine nacelles: with the rotors set vertically it takes off and lands like a helicopter, and once the nacelles are tilted into the horizontal position it flies like a turboprop aircraft. Thanks to that it combines the ability to land without a runway with a cruising speed and range that are out of reach for a helicopter. The fuselage has a large glazed flight deck with side windows and a number of small panels, which makes masking one of the most lengthy parts of building the model in 1:48 scale.
Clean and degrease the glazing, seat the mask with tweezers and press the edges down carefully. Spray in thin layers and start with the shade of the cabin interior, only then moving on to the external color. The Osprey is usually finished in a matte guise, which is prone to fingerprints, so handle the model in gloves after lifting the mask off. Take the mask off shortly after the paint has set, while it has not hardened.
It is an accessory to a model, not the model itself. The kit and paints are not included in the package. Before you buy, check that the set matches your kit.
