A Hauler photo-etched set for the Soviet T-70 Early light tank in 1:48 scale is an accessory for a plastic kit you have already bought, not a model in its own right. It replaces coarse plastic detail with thin brass parts.

This is an aftermarket set of photo-etched parts from the Czech maker Hauler that refines the plastic kit of the Soviet T-70 light tank in the early production version. It is neither a model nor a kit - the tank itself has to be obtained separately. The set is cut for one particular kit, from MikroMir, so that the parts fit without improvising and adjusting.
Injection-molded plastic has a technological limit: a mold will not reliably fill a wall thinner than about half a millimeter. In 1:48 scale the fenders, the brackets, the eyes, the tool clamps and the grilles therefore look oversized and soft. Photo-etched brass is thinner by an order of magnitude, holds a sharp edge even after painting, and it is exactly by that that it moves a model from the level of a kit to the level of a scale replica. On small equipment such as the T-70 that difference is visible at first glance.
The T-70 was a Soviet light tank of the Second World War period with a crew of two and a 45 mm gun. The drive was provided by a pair of production automobile engines one behind the other, which simplified production and maintenance alike. The early batches differed from the later ones in the arrangement of the running gear and in details of the turret - for a modeler that means that accessories for the individual versions are not interchangeable.
Cut the parts off the fret with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface, not with pliers. Run the bends along the etched lines over a metal ruler or in a photo-etch bending tool. Before gluing, degrease the brass with spirit and go over it with a primer - otherwise paint will not hold on the smooth metal. It is glued with super glue applied with a pin, not straight from the tube.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit; it is not a model in its own right. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
