An aftermarket accessory of photo-etched metal for the plastic kit of the vehicle from the brand Tamiya. The set does not hold the kit and cannot be used without it. It is made by the Czech brand Hauler.
The Sd.Kfz.251 was a German medium half-track vehicle used in the Second World War in many forms. One of them was the fitting of frames for launching heavy unguided rockets on the sides of the hull. The rockets were launched straight from the transport crates placed in the frames, which was a technically very simple though inaccurate weapon meant for area fire at short range. The vehicle meanwhile kept its original role of carrying a squad, which made it a cheap way of adding firepower to a unit.
The frames are an ideal subject for photo-etch, because they are made up of thin sections that would come out needlessly massive in plastic. Work patiently: cut the parts out with a scalpel, clean the excess of the tab off with a file and at first only start all the bends, so that the shape can be fine-tuned. Glue the frame assembly on a board with a right angle, or it will easily twist. It is easier to paint before the final fitting to the hull, because you can then reach every surface with a brush and an airbrush alike. Do not forget the primer, and at the end unify the whole with a light dust filter, so that the metal and the plastic do not look like two different materials.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit, which is not included in the package. It is supplied unpainted; glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
