Toro Model 1:48, Polish infantryman with a machine gun, September 1939 is a resin figure of a Polish infantry soldier with his weapon, meant to bring dioramas and display scenes in 1:48 scale to life.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a stand-alone figure in cast resin from the Polish maker Toro Model. It depicts a soldier of the Polish infantry in the autumn of 1939 in field uniform and with a light machine gun. It is not a kit of a vehicle or an aircraft but an addition that gives finished equipment scale and action. The box holds one figure; the casting is supplied unpainted and with casting blocks that have to be removed before building.
In the Polish infantry of 1939 the light machine gun was the basis of a section's firepower. The gunner moved together with the section, usually firing from a rest or from the prone position, and his gear differed from an ordinary rifleman's mainly in the way the weapon and the magazines were carried. The figure is conceived as an infantryman in the field, so it suits scenes with period equipment, guns and the civilian setting of the time.
First wash the resin casting in lukewarm soapy water to remove the mold release residue, otherwise the paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or nippers, sand the parting lines wet and use respiratory protection, because resin dust is very fine. Any joints hold best with cyanoacrylate glue. Lay on a thin primer before painting, build the flesh up from a darker layer toward the lighter areas, and on the uniform acrylics work well with oil shades or pigments added for dust and mud. Unify the surface with a matte varnish at the end.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
