1:48 Si 204D TFace from Eduard is a masking set for the glazing of a Siebel Si 204D model in 1:48 scale, for the outside and the inside of the clear parts alike.
Responsibility details are not available.
The TFace designation means that the set contains masks not only for the outside of the glazing but also for its inside. You can therefore paint the frames in the interior color from within and in the external shade from outside, exactly as on the real aircraft. Where the cockpit is visible, that is a difference anyone notices. The set contains masks only, no photo-etched or resin parts.
The basic masking set for the same aircraft handles only the outside of the clear parts; TFace adds a second set of shapes for the inside. The work takes a little longer, because you mask twice and have to watch that the parts are matched correctly, but the result is more convincing. On the Siebel, with its extensive and densely framed glazing, this is one of the few ways to get the inside of the frames into the right color without cutting masks by hand.
The masks are cut from fine kabuki tape, which conforms to the curvature of the clear parts, holds for the duration of painting and leaves no adhesive residue when taken off. The recommended procedure: first mask and paint the inside, let it dry, then mask the outside and spray the final shade.
Wash the clear parts before work and then do not touch them with your fingers. Transfer the masks with tweezers, press them down with a toothpick and take care over the corners on curves. Apply the paint in thin coats. Take the masks off shortly after the paint has dried, while the coat is not yet fully cured, and the edge will stay clean.
The set contains masks only. The model, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
