Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I early 1:48 Lookplus is a combined Eduard add-on set built around a finished instrument panel of the Look range. It completes a model of the early version; it is not a kit.

The Look range is built on a different principle from classic photo-etched parts: the instrument panel is a resin part with faithful three-dimensional relief and a finished colored surface, so it is enough to clean it and glue it into the cockpit without painting it yourself and without stacking layers. The Lookplus designation means that in the package this panel is accompanied by further accessories from the manufacturer's range for the same model. The set is intended for a model in 1:48 scale that you buy separately; the kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
The qualifier early refers to the early production form of the Spitfire Mk.I. Machines from the beginning of series production differed from the later ones in a number of details, among them the form of the propeller, the shape of the cockpit canopy and the equipment of the pilot's station. The differences reach into the instrument panel and its fittings as well, and that is why the manufacturer makes sets for the early and the late form separately. For a modeler that means one thing only: choose according to the phase of production you are building, as otherwise the details will part company with the model.
First wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with a detergent, so that remnants of release agent from the mold are removed, as otherwise neither glue nor paint will hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc; do not break them. Sand resin wet and with respiratory protection. The parts are glued with cyanoacrylate, applied in minimal amounts. Do not sand or spray over the finished colored surface of the panel; once it is glued in, at most unify it gently with a flat clear coat and add a drop of clear varnish into the dials, so that they read as glass.
