The W-3 Sokol is a Polish twin-engine utility helicopter of the medium category. It serves in the transport, liaison, medical and rescue roles and has seen a number of partial modifications in military and civil service alike. Machines intended for search and rescue differ from the ordinary ones in additional equipment and above all in striking color markings with high-visibility areas, which make identification easier on the ground and in the air. The fuselage number 0417 belongs to a particular machine, which makes the set a theme for a modeler who wants to build a precisely identified helicopter.
Helicopter models have many small stencils, warning markings by the entry into the rotor area and service labels. It is precisely these small elements that decide the result, because they are looked at from close up. Work in groups and let the film dry between them, otherwise the elements placed earlier will shift. Apply the large high-visibility areas onto a perfectly glossy base and use a softener to settle them into the panel lines; under it a decal looks wrinkled for a while, but it pulls itself flat if you do not touch it. The order in relation to the clear coat is the key: a gloss coat before the decals, a matte or semi-gloss one only after them. Only then comes a fine wash into the engraved lines, so that the edges of the film disappear completely.
This is an accessory to a model. The kit itself, the paints and the clear coats are not included in the package.
