1:700 HMS Lively 1941 is a plastic kit of a British L-class destroyer from Flyhawk.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of a British destroyer as she was in 1941. Flyhawk is among the manufacturers who push the fineness of their moldings very far in 1:700 scale, so the model counts on careful work and a well lit workbench. A photo-etched set and deck masks for this ship are separate items.
HMS Lively was an L-class destroyer completed at the beginning of the 1940s. Some of the ships of this class received twin dual-purpose 102 mm mounts, usable against aircraft as well, instead of the classic 120 mm guns, which gave those ships a markedly different silhouette of the forward and after gun positions. The ship operated in the Mediterranean, where destroyers took part in convoy escort and in night actions against shipping. Lively was lost in 1942 after an air attack in the eastern Mediterranean.
Decide in advance whether you will build the ship full-hull or in a waterline version, because the procedure for the bottom of the hull and for the stand differs accordingly. Glue the superstructures and masts only after the deck is painted, otherwise you will get at it badly. Leave the most fragile parts, that is, the gun barrels, searchlights and boats, until the end. Apply the finish very thinly with an airbrush, so that the engraved deck detail is not lost, and work the camouflage scheme by areas, starting from the lightest shade. Photo-etched railings lift the final impression considerably, but it is advisable to fit them at the very end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
