Responsibility details are not available.
This plastic kit from the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi captures the fast battleship Haruna in her 1944 configuration, that is in the period of Operation Sho-1 and the fighting for the Philippines. The late form of the ship is marked by markedly strengthened anti-aircraft armament, which makes the model a richly detailed and attractive build.
Haruna was one of the four ships of the Kongo class, originally built as battlecruisers and later modernized into fast battleships. Thanks to her high speed she escorted carrier groups for most of the war in the Pacific. In October 1944 she took part in the fighting off Leyte as part of Operation Sho-1; she was not lost until July 1945, after air raids on the base at Kure.
Spray the hull naval gray and set the decks apart — on late Japanese ships a darker, worn look with a fine wash in the engraved lines works well. Paint the numerous anti-aircraft guns while still on the fret and fit them with tweezers only at the end. Build and paint the characteristic pagoda superstructure deck by deck.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
