The Aoshima 1:700 Japanese gunboats Katata and Hozu plastic kit captures small river units of the Imperial Japanese Navy in the waterline ship scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
An unassembled injection-molded plastic kit from the Japanese firm Aoshima in 1:700 scale. The subjects are the small gunboats Katata and Hozu of the Imperial Japanese Navy. The model is rendered in the waterline concept for a water base or a diorama and is meant to be glued together and painted.
Gunboats of this type were slight, shallow-draft units meant for patrol and support duties on the great rivers of Asia. Their low draft allowed them to work where larger ships could not reach. The armament consisted of lighter guns and machine guns for patrolling and protecting shipping.
Glue the small parts with liquid cement for plastic, with the emphasis on accuracy. Spray the hull with the base shade using an airbrush and bring out the decks and the superstructures with shades and gentle highlighting of the engraved lines. Small units look fine in an intimate diorama with a water surface. Railings can be added with separate photo-etched parts.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
