A set of fourteen turned metal barrels of 152 mm caliber of the L50 Vickers Mk.M type 41 in 1:700 scale from the maker Aber replaces the plastic barrels of the medium battery.
Responsibility details are not available.
Fourteen turned metal barrels in 1:700 scale matching the gun of 152 mm caliber with a barrel fifty calibers long, designated Vickers Mk.M type 41. The set serves to replace the plastic barrels of the medium battery on a ship model; it is not a kit. It is made by the Polish brand Aber.
The gun of 152 mm caliber with a barrel fifty calibers long came from a British Vickers design and in the Imperial Japanese Navy it established itself as the standard medium armament of large units. It turned up in casemates as well as in open mountings on battleships and battlecruisers of the older generation, among them the units of the Haruna, Hiei, Kirishima, Fuso and Yamashiro types. The medium battery served against destroyers and lighter surface targets. Given the number of these guns on a single ship, the set holds a full fourteen barrels.
Casemate guns are small in 1:700 scale and their plastic barrels tend to be the thinnest parts of the whole model. Work along one side of the ship at a time and keep checking that all the barrels project the same distance and sit at the same angle. Drill the holes with a hand micro drill and do not overheat the plastic. Dose the glue with a pin so that it does not run into the casemate. Degrease the brass with alcohol before painting and go over it with a primer for metal.
This is an accessory set for a model, not a kit of a ship. The base model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
