A kit of the German submarine U-571 in 1:400 scale. A small scale, in which the whole boat fits even on an ordinary shelf.
Responsibility details are not available.
The designation U-571 was borne by a German submarine of the Second World War. German submarines of that time operated above all in the Atlantic against Allied convoys, and their crews spent weeks in a cramped hull where they slept among the torpedoes and fresh air was rationed. The boat moved slowly and on electric power under the surface, so it spent much of a voyage on the surface. That is exactly why the silhouette of a submarine has such a pronounced conning tower and open deck, that is the shapes a model stands or falls by.
The 1:400 scale is one of the most space-saving among ships. The model takes up little room and can be set beside other ships of the same scale in a uniform row, which with a submarine is an advantage: it brings out how small she was compared with the surface vessels she hunted.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the cut face so that it seats. Wash and degrease the model before painting. Watch the long hull on a flat surface so that it is not twisted once glued, and fill and sand the seam on the sides, because that is what shows most on a smooth hull. When painting it helps to have a sharp waterline separated by a band and fine vertical traces of rust and green growth below it, which give the boat a well-used look.
For collectors of ships in a uniform small scale and for modelers who want a submarine with no demands on space. Paints, glue and varnish are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
