This is a standalone accessory to the model you are building, not an aircraft kit. The Czech maker Brengun supplies it as a resin casting, that is in a hard poured material that holds sharp shapes and a smooth surface better than injected plastic. The tank is hung under the fuselage or the wing of British machines in 1:72 scale.
A jettisonable tank extends the range of a machine whose own fuel lasts only a limited time in the air. The crew draw on it first and drop it before combat or in trouble, to shed both weight and drag. The 50 gallon designation refers to the nominal capacity of the tank. On a model it is a feature that immediately changes the character of the machine: an aircraft with a tank fitted reads to the viewer as a machine on a long-range flight rather than as a fighter just parked on the apron.
First wash the casting in warm soapy water and clear it of mold release residue: without that neither paint nor glue will hold. Do not break the casting block off: cut it with a saw or a cutting disc and sand the area down on a board with abrasive paper so that it seats flat. Sand resin wet and with respiratory protection, as the dust is fine and unpleasant. It is bonded exclusively with super glue, as ordinary cement for plastic will not dissolve resin. A primer comes before painting and only then the covering shade; the pylon and the lower edge of the tank will take light chipping and soiling, because that is exactly where operational dirt collects on a machine.
This is an accessory, not a kit. The model, glue, paints and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
