The set contains one engine unit for the four-engine B-17G Fortress, specifically the version for the left side of the aircraft. With this accessory that is the most important piece of information: this is not a set of four engines but a single piece. The counterpart for the right side is a separate item, so work out how many packages you need for what you have in mind.
The target kit is the Airfix one; that is bought separately.
The B-17G was the final production version of the four-engine Flying Fortress, powered by radial engines with turbochargers. The head-on view into the nacelle is one of the most conspicuous places on a model: a radial engine has deep cylinder finning and a complex structure that injection-molded plastic can only simplify in 1:72 scale. A resin casting does not have that limitation.
With a radial engine the point is that it is visible even with the nacelle closed: the ring of cylinders looks out right behind the propeller. One good casting is therefore noticeable on a finished model without your opening anything. If you want to lift the standard of the whole aircraft, however, one engine is not enough and you have to count on more than one package, including the counterpart for the other side. A single package does make sense when you want to open or remove the cowling on one particular nacelle and make it the focus of the model, or to fill out a maintenance scene.
Wash the casting in lukewarm soapy water to get the mold release agent off it. Cut the casting block off with a saw and level the surface wet; sand with respiratory protection. The engine is glued with cyanoacrylate glue. The cylinder finning responds very well to a dark wash and to drybrushing, which pulls out the edges; on a part this busy that is the quickest route to the effect.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
