An accessory set of exhaust nozzles for a model of the F-14A Tomcat in 1:72 scale, in a form with the two nozzles at differing positions.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-14A Tomcat is a carrier fighter of the US Navy with a variable-sweep wing. The pair of exhaust nozzles at the tail is among its most conspicuous areas, and at the same time it is the part that kits in the small scale cover only with a shallow suggestion of the interior. Replacing it therefore shows on a finished model even from a distance.
The set replaces the exhaust nozzles of a 1:72 model. The form is described in the name as a differing position, that is the state where the petals of the two nozzles are not drawn together to the same degree; on a parked machine that is nothing unusual, depending on how the engines were shut down. The breakdown of the parts and the way they are seated are given in the manufacturer's instructions. Aires also offers variants with the nozzles in the open and in the closed position separately, so you can choose according to a photograph of the particular aircraft.
The parts are not polystyrene, ordinary cement for plastic has no hold on them and they are bonded with super glue. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little short of the part and sand off the rest flat, so that the glued surface sits without a gap. Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent before painting and let them dry, otherwise the paint holds poorly. Paint the inner surfaces of the nozzles before you seat them in the rear fuselage, because once they are bonded a brush will not reach in there.
The aircraft kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
