An injection-molded plastic kit of a two-seat jet aircraft in 1:72 scale. The box is devoted to a machine of the test and development unit of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force and, according to the name, also holds an external pod for collecting particle samples from the atmosphere: it is precisely this pod that sets the boxing apart from ordinary releases of the type. The number of parts, the extent of the decal sheet and the number of options offered are stated on the box. Hasegawa is a Japanese maker and has long had Phantoms in its program in several scales.
The F-4EJ is the Japanese licensed version of the twin-engine multirole F-4E Phantom II. It is a two-seat machine with the crew in tandem, with characteristic cranked wings and anhedral horizontal tail surfaces. The test and development unit used Phantoms for trials flights, measurement and equipment testing, which is also the reason why they often carried non-standard stores. Pods for collecting samples from the atmosphere serve to capture particles while flying through a chosen layer of the atmosphere, for subsequent analysis on the ground.
Finish and glaze the cockpit of both positions before you close the fuselage. Mask the glazing before spraying: on aircraft with a large canopy that pays off more than cleaning up overspray. Assemble and paint the stores separately and fit them only to the finished model. Extensive test schemes tend to be contrasting in color, so spray with an airbrush through masks and start with the lighter shade. Settle the decals onto a glossy intermediate coat with a decal softener, so that they sit into the engraved lines, and finish the whole thing with a matte or semi-matte varnish.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
